that is sad to hear zgfg, I was hopping for a solution from you....
thanks anyway

As discussed elsewhere on the Net, it seems  that what MTK Eng Menu shows as IMT 2000,  works also for WCDMA 2100. I'm not sure if the phone was originally showing different. But you must make sure to have international modem selected.
Btw, check your operator's frequencies at:
http://willmyphonework.net/

AFAIK, @ruka89 was able to recover his original NVRAM by flashing an early July or August ROM from NeedROM (to recover touchscreen driver when screwed up by Nov update):

IMO, you can also modify frequencies in NVRAM by use of Maui Meta program, you can download it also from NeedROM:
http://www.needrom.com/download/maui-meta-3g-ver-7-1444-0-0/

But before all that,  dial *#*#4636#*#* to open Test Mode (different from MTK Engineering Menu), the Phone and Select Band, and make sure you have EUR selected (if from Europe), see on the YouTube:

Thank you very much zgfg

my operator's frequencies are 900 and in some places 2100, so my phone should work with 900 no problem.
I tried the test mode band selection with no luck, i'll check more in weeken and report back

PROBLEM SOLVED !!!

It was the APN that was wrong. The operator changed the APN some time ago and the phone remembered the old APN after flashing the ROM.
Learned my lesson : don't be too sure of what you know, always double check.

Thanks guys for support!
