I wanted to backup my Whatsapp pictures to my PC, but it looks like my MTP driver failed installing. The automatic driversearch finds the driver but its just failing every time. the PTP driver works fine. Im using Win10 Home 64bit.

Hi,
I had a same problem. If you go to Windows device manage, I think that you´ll see an unknown device marked with triangle.
I picked an option to manually upgrade the driver of the device  and find the driver from the computer.
After that I pick the" Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer."
And if I remember right, the driver was MTP-android.
Hope that this helps you.

There is a 4.5 step!
There is a list where you must select MOBILE DEVICES (or something similar), then click NEXT, after that you see the menu on photo 5.

Worked fine for me! Thanks a lot! (i'm using Win10 Home 64bit)

ATENTION!
(must mention before this, you should uninstall the useless ddriver for the device from your PC (right-click on the device with yellow triangle, and UNINSTALL DRIVER) -> after this step you should follow Herzbub's guide!)

There is a nice utility USBDeview that can help you to see all (USB) drivers you have installed on the PC, and to easily delete the obsolete or incorrectly installed ones:
