Have to worry about "Flashing Tool for Metal v3.1552.rar" having a Trojan or is just a viruscan glitch?

From the official software download page: http://ulefone.com/download/metal.html

Yes it is well known and Ulefone is addressing the issue as you can see by the two other threads about this issue. Should be resolved this coming week with an OTA update hopefully.

I've downloaded and used flashing tools from Ulefone site without problem, if 50 antivirus programs found no virus and 2 programs has found it, it's probably just fake alert.

@jackbox: Hmmm. No. Please, realize that this issue is not about the already reported Android malware in the phone's firmware.

This time is the suspected Windows malware (Win.Trojan.Ramnit-7820) is in the flasher utility as reported by various scan tools.

Specifically in the SPMETA_DLL.dll library.

@kejlycz: Probably is just a false alert. Just I'm quite wary now after knowing about the Android malware.

I think it is a false alert. I scanned this version and a previous version with Windows Defender and it says the files are clean. I have used the MTK flasing tool in the past and it does not appear my computer is affected with a virus. It scans clean every time I scan it.

Use SP FlashTool as you will find and download from NeedROM, read the other threads here. See also a thread about Rooting, there you will find a link to GizBeat, with the excellent instructions on installation of drivers and SP Flash Tool. I"ve flashed seveal times, from different PCs, running antivirus programs, SP Flash Tool procedure is (easy and) safe.
